Pokémon TCG, Rocket's Scyther ex (EX Team Rocket Returns #102)

Rocket's Scyther ex 102/109 – Ultra Rare from EX Team Rocket Returns

Rocket’s Scyther ex 102/109 is a sought-after, English Ultra Rare Pokémon card from the legendary EX Team Rocket Returns set, released in 2004 by The Pokémon Company. The card marks an important era in Pokémon TCG, where the Team Rocket theme and the introduction of Pokémon-ex cards set new standards for both play and collecting. With its status as a Rare Holo EX and the iconic illustration by Hikaru Koike, this card is a standout collector's item for anyone who values vintage Pokémon cards from the EX era.

Special features and gameplay significance

Rocket’s Scyther ex is a Darkness-type Pokémon-ex and a Basic Pokémon with 80 HP. The card is known for its unique mechanics and the special ex rule, where the opponent takes two Prize cards if the card is Knocked Out. This makes the card both strategically interesting and valuable to collectors.

• Dual Armor (Poké-Body): With Grass Energy attached, Scyther ex becomes both Grass- and Darkness-type.
• Bounce: Deals 10 damage and allows you to switch with a Benched Pokémon after the attack.
• Slashing Strike: Deals 40 damage but cannot be used in two consecutive turns.

The card is only available as a holofoil variant in this set and is not graded, not sealed — it is delivered as a raw card, exactly as it was released in 2004.

Collector perspective and storage

Rocket’s Scyther ex 102/109 is particularly relevant for collectors focused on the EX era, the Team Rocket theme, and Pokémon ex cards. The card's authenticity and vintage status make it a strong addition to any collection of Pokémon single cards. To protect the card, we recommend storing it in sleeves or toploaders, which you can find under our range of accessories.
