Magic: The Gathering - New Phyrexia Booster Pack

Magic: The Gathering New Phyrexia booster pack

Magic: The Gathering New Phyrexia booster pack is an original, factory-sealed booster from Wizards of the Coast, released on 13 May 2011 as the concluding set in the Scars of Mirrodin block. This booster is in English and contains 16 cards with fully randomized contents, making it an authentic choice for both collectors and players who want to explore or relive one of Magic's most notable chapters. The set marks Phyrexia's final takeover of Mirrodin and introduces several groundbreaking mechanics that have left a lasting mark on the game's development.

Contents and core mechanics

Each New Phyrexia booster pack contains 16 English-language Magic cards. The contents are randomly assembled and can include commons, uncommons, rares or mythic rares, as well as the possibility of a premium/foil card. There is no guarantee of specific cards or rarities in any single booster.

The set is especially known for introducing Phyrexian mana — a mechanic where certain mana symbols can be paid with either colored mana or life, providing great flexibility in deck building. Other core mechanics in New Phyrexia include Infect (damage to players is given as poison counters, and damage to creatures as -1/-1 counters) and Proliferate (allows increasing the number of counters on permanents and players). The set also features recurring mechanics such as Living weapon, Metalcraft and Imprint.

Iconic cards and collector value

New Phyrexia booster packs are sought after by both collectors and players because of the set's unique theme and iconic cards. Among the most notable cards that can be found in the set are:

• Karn Liberated
• Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite
• Sheoldred, Whispering One
• Phyrexian Obliterator
• Batterskull
• Birthing Pod
• Surgical Extraction
• Dismember
• Mental Misstep

Note that the contents of a booster are completely random, and there is no guarantee of pulling specific cards or foil versions.
