Magic: The Gathering

What is Magic: The Gathering?

Magic: The Gathering is the world’s first and most influential trading card game — a collectible card game that since 1993 has combined strategy, the joy of collecting, and creativity. With more than 1,000 sets released and millions of dedicated players worldwide, Magic: The Gathering has become synonymous with depth, innovation, and a vibrant community. Whether you enjoy intense tournaments, casual kitchen-table games, or hunting for rare Magic cards, you’ll find a universe of possibilities in this category.

Different types of Magic: The Gathering products

Magic: The Gathering products span a wide range — from classic booster packs to advanced collector displays and ready-to-play decks. To make navigation easier, we’ve gathered the most popular formats:

Play Booster Packs and Displays: Standard sealed packs with 14 cards, designed for both Limited formats and collectors. Displays typically contain 36 packs and cover everything from Magic: The Gathering 2025-present to iconic sets like Secrets of Strixhaven.

Collector Booster Displays: For the dedicated collector. Contains foil cards, extended art, showcase frames and serialized cards — often with unique print techniques and low pull rates on the most sought-after chase cards.

Commander and Theme Decks: Ready-built 100-card decks with foiled-face commanders and thematic tokens. Perfect for both new and experienced players looking to jump into the popular multiplayer format.

Jumpstart Boosters: Half-decks that can be mixed for quick and fun deckbuilding — ideal for casual play and introducing new players.

Bundles and Pre-Release Kits: Bundles collect booster packs, promos and accessories in one package, while Pre-Release Kits give you everything you need to experience a new set from day one.

You can also explore older and newer sets in Magic: The Gathering 2020-24 to find classics and collector favorites.

How to choose the right Magic product

Choosing Magic: The Gathering products depends on how you want to play or collect. Here are some key considerations:

If you prefer Limited formats like draft and sealed, Play Booster Boxes are ideal — they provide a broad base of cards and the chance to open exciting rares and mythics. Collector Boosters are aimed at collectors chasing the most exclusive versions, such as serialized foils and showcase mythics. Commander Decks are ready to play and perfect for multiplayer, while Jumpstart Boosters make it easy to get started without prior deckbuilding experience.

Special chase cards — like college leaders from Secrets of Strixhaven or crossovers from Universes Beyond — can add extra spice for both collectors and players who want something unique for their deck or binder. Also consider whether you’re looking for Standard-legal cards for tournaments, or if you want to dive into older sets for nostalgia.

Accessories for Magic: The Gathering

To protect and organize your Magic cards, it’s important to choose the right accessories. Quality sleeves, deck boxes and playmats extend the lifespan of your collectible cards and make the gaming experience both more professional and personal. Whether you play at home, at FNM or at large events, accessories are an indispensable part of any Magic collection.
